AKIRA LADDER
AMERICAN WALNUT, SAM MALOOF POLY/OIL FINISH
Balancing quiet utility with sculptural intent, the Akira Ladder explores the bond between material and function. Though refined in appearance, its presence is grounded. Gentle curves feel as though carved from a single piece of wood, yet it’s composed of many carefully joined elements. Each rung is hand-trimmed to meet the five-degree taper of the side rails, forming a continuous rhythm from bottom to top.
Five rungs were chosen with intention: an odd number that centers the eye on form rather than void, inviting stillness in the geometry.
